Never a Dull Moment

An email I did not expect to send today...

Subject: Mouse in Pantry

Dear Neighbors,

I'm sad to report I found evidence of a mouse in my pantry earlier this morning (unit XXX). I have called the management hotline, and they say pest control will be sent out to the building but no word on when. I'm having a friend come over with a cat later just in case, but it seems like the mouse was only in the pantry last night. A bag of sesame seeds was chewed through and there were droppings nearby.

In case it's helpful, here are my lessons learned:

Lesson #1: Even if you think it might be chocolate, do not taste any little unrecognizable bits found on jar lids as a method of identification. So glad I avoided this disaster... but narrowly.

Lesson #2: Do not keep items on the floor level of the pantry. I had heavy jars and reusable bags there for convenience, and it seems the mouse did in fact find them convenient to climb on to get to second tier with evidently delicious smelling sesame seeds.

Lesson #3: Have management install weather stripping for any large gaps under front door. I had never really paid attention to my front door before, and that seems to have been the entry point.

Back to re-arranging pantry...

Happy snow day,
Jane
